Attach-a-matic mule drive

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new.  So be gentle.  I have a couple 312-8 tractors 90's models and had an issue with the front block nut falling off and the pulley subsequently falling off as well.. Then the belt fell off and stopped mowing.  I found the pulley in the yard but am unsure if there are spacers or washers or whatever in between the pulleys.  Anyone have a parts diagram?  I can't find much on it.  I tried toro.com and failed miserably.  I appreciate your help!

Awesome.  I found spacers online...but may use brass in the meantime.  I could not, however, find a nut OEM.  I was thinking of two shallower nuts and locking them together to keep it from falling off again.

953 nut

:WRS:  If you have a Toro dealer or a good hardware store or industrial supply like Grainger or McMaster-Carr should have locking nuts.

1/2" long spacer part number 101757 is on the outside between the pulley and cover.

5/8" long spacer part number 101734 is between the pulleys.

Spacer ID needs to slip over 3/4" shaft.

The nut is a 3/4"-16 Nylok nut

I think nyloc is a good idea but none of mine are.

Maybe they used to be locking but now they just spin on.

However, I tighten them very tight using a 1-1/8" wrench.

I like the older cast iron pulleys like in daveoman1966's post You just replace the bearings when they wear out and good for another 100,00.
