muz123 1,192 #1 Posted June 5, 2016 Might be a dumb question but i was wondering if you had the tiller attached to the rear and the mowing deck attached also, could you mow with the Tiller attached? Thanks, Dave
AMC RULES 37,147 #2 Posted June 5, 2016 I don't think so Dave... doesn't the tillers belt run underneath the machine?

I was thinking without the belt and the deck mounted on as normal with the mule drive. Edited June 5, 2016 by muz123
953 nut 58,176 #4 Posted June 5, 2016 Both use the same PTO for their power and the same lift so no way.
russellmc301 600 #5 Posted June 5, 2016 unless you make a modified breed of horse to have 2 pto and 2 lift handles no, but it would be cool to do it.

I was thinking if the tiller was attached with no center pulley or belt being used at all with the tiller and was just being lifted up and down while the deck was attached and mule drive also. So the deck would just be running with the PTO. Edited June 5, 2016 by muz123
JAinVA 4,629 #7 Posted June 5, 2016 muz123, With belts and pulleys removed to the tiller, you could come up with a way to keep the tiller raised.Maybe chain it in the up position to the seat mount. Then you could run the mower deck with the pto and raise the deck with the normal lift I hate hooking up the tiller,so like most here I just got another horse to mount the tiller to.Luck,JAinVa

WVHillbilly520H 10,376 #9 Posted June 5, 2016 I agree with Jim on chaining it in the up position , but I'd rather wrestle that tiller any day compared to that 44" 2stage blower on the front of my 520,Jeff.
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,360 #10 Posted June 5, 2016 Muz 123 check out my thread started july 2015. I have an electric actuator on my clevis hitch so I can have the deck on for mowing and the rear free to move up and down for other attachments if need be. Bit of PIA to get it done but it works. Great to lift back of tractor to install chains.

That dual stage is heavy! I use a jack when ever i attach mine. 27 minutes ago, elcamino/wheelhorse said: Muz 123 check out my thread started july 2015. doc724 925 #12 Posted June 5, 2016 Assuming you could get all the "lifting" worked out the only other thing to consider is any bumps or sharp hills in your lawn? Depending where they are, the tiller may snag them. Although I do not till with the same tractor, I do not keep the tiller on the tilling tractor all the time. Put it on and off twice a year. 30-45 minutes is all it takes for each swap.
