scotty 252 #1 Posted June 1, 2016 My b-80 broke down and lost spark. Sometimes i can get it to run for a while and then it will quit getting spark. I put a brand new coil and condenser on it and points not to long ago. Im getting power to the + side on the coil. Anyone know what could cause this to happen? gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,503 #2 Posted June 2, 2016 Check the voltage on the negative side of the coil. When the points are closed you should have 0 volts if the points are grounding the circuit as designed. When the points are open you should have battery voltage. If you remove the spark plug so you can turn the crank by hand that cycle should happen once for every two turns of the crank. Garry
953 nut 51,766 #3 Posted June 2, 2016 Do you have a cover over your points? A few days back we had an intermittent loss of ignition, turned out it was a throttle cable touching the points shorting them out.
