Lane Huls 146 #1 Posted May 26, 2016 Years ago, I started a Lawn ranger project. After a few attempts at acquiring the H or HH60 I gave up on that. However I did pick up a nice little H35 at auction. With nearly half the horsepower, I am sure it would haul my wife/me without too much trouble. However, what could I power with the little motor? Could it even haul a yard wagon of dirt? stevasaurus 23,287 #2 Posted May 26, 2016 I would think that you could haul a wagon or cart around OK. Why not put a Kohler 7 hsp on it??
pfrederi 18,703 #3 Posted May 26, 2016 Except for steep hills the HH70 on my L107 doesn't work hauling coal about 750 lbs in 3rd (see avator) You might have to use 2nd
Terry M-(Moderator) 2,239 #4 Posted May 26, 2016 Being a Tecumseh guy, I personally think that if the engine runs good and is capable of its full potential ,you'll be ok riding around. But I'm almost sure your going to just have to test its limits as far as pulling a trailer with dirt. I have driven My son's Lawn Ranger, with a very tired H60, up a fairly steep grade, with my three kids in a dump cart (12,12&13 years old) and my 220lb. self and it's done ok. The smaller tractors with smaller wheels seem to do a little better when it come to the marginal power of the Tecumsehs. Where I ran into trouble with my Lawn Rangers was the traction (with the old original turf tires) when driving on the slopes of my back yard.....but a set of new ag tires fixed that. I hope this helps some.. Here is a pic of my son's Lawn ranger last year helping us bigger guys plow..

Well it had an 8hp Kohler on it when I got it, but it was a little far gone. My wife loves the thing,I don't think it will get used hard, so I think a $2.50 3.5hp should be enough Looks good Terry, I am sure someday ill find out the limitations if I can remember where I put the rear end so it can all go back together..
