dells68 7,499 #1 Posted May 22, 2016 Just saw this over in Hickory, NC. I hope I'm not stepping on anyon's toes here, but WOW. Machine supposedly only has 98 hours, but they are wanting $4200. I may be out of line, but that seems like a king's ransom! If found that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. They even want the money sent by wire transfer. Red flag! Any who, just wanted to share. Like I say, I hope I'm not offending anyone here.
Toolmanbill 34 #2 Posted May 22, 2016 Is there any reliable source for the cost of wheel horse tractors?
muz123 1,192 #3 Posted May 22, 2016 A 1997/96 520 with 98 hours? Does sound to good to be true.
dells68 7,499 #4 Posted May 22, 2016 I wonder if the hour meter works or has been unhooked. Just seems that when things are too good to be true, they usually are. I hate to be a skeptic, but the world we live in almost requires us to keep up our guard. Bob has a really nice looking 520 for $1500 in the classifieds. I'd much rather have it - you'd know for sure what you were getting.
SALTYWRIGHT 861 #5 Posted May 22, 2016 I GOT A 520-8 W/H WITH 28 HOUTS ON IT FROM A FRIEND IN FLA. THAT HE NEVER USED . I SOLD IT TO A MAN ON THE WAY BACK TO CT. HE STOPPED ME AND MADE A OFFER I COULD NOT TURN DOWN. IT WAS A LOT MORE THAN $4200. RUSS
dells68 7,499 #6 Posted May 22, 2016 Wow!! I'd like to have one, but could never lay down that kind of cash! Hey Russ. You didn't unload it around NC did you? Could it be the same one?
Racinbob 11,946 #7 Posted May 22, 2016 After reading the entire posting I get the feeling everything is fine but the guy is just a little strange. I doubt he will get that much out of it but when you think that you can sink well over $2k in one of the big box toys it doesn't seem so bad.
squonk 43,844 #8 Posted May 22, 2016 It could be a scam. They have been known to lift a pic off the internet and then want money wired to them. They don't even have the tractor.
Racinbob 11,946 #9 Posted May 22, 2016 Could be Mike but he talks about cash on pick-up, he has 100% + feedback, he gave his name and phone # and it's a legit business at that address (Mathews Used Equipment). Regardless, one should proceed with caution. The idea of wiring money doesn't set well with me.
Aldon 4,828 #10 Posted May 22, 2016 (edited) He will accept cash in person....while picking it up...which is the way I read it. With 250 deposit. Edited May 22, 2016 by Aldon
dells68 7,499 #11 Posted May 22, 2016 I don't know, I guess I'm just a skeptic. I agree he seems a little strange from his posting. If you look at the intake screen, it does seem a little dirty for such low hours.

tunahead72 2,546 #13 Posted May 22, 2016 I'm a little lost here... I looked on eBay, but didn't find this particular listing. I know we're not supposed to post links, but can somebody give me a clue? Also, I'm certainly no expert, but that photo looks photoshopped.
