Does anyone use there slot hitch for implements

Recommended Posts

My 1267 has a slot hitch. My first garden tractor was a Springfield that I got after quite a bit of looking for one like my Grandfather had. It also has a slot hitch. I have a single mold board plow that has been made into a three point hitch setup. Home done but done reasonably well. I am considering converting it over to work with my slot hitches. I have picked up four pieces of flat stock locally to fit the slot hitches. Planning on using one of them with two holes for dragging around a yard cart and considering one of them to use as a mount  for the eventual plow project. This kind of would commit me to slot hitch mounted implement's.  Does anyone use there slot hitch for implements and with what degree of success.  Any input would help.

I remember my father using a slot hitch on his early 953, for a 10" Brinly moldboard plow and single gang disc.  The hydro was a bit weak, but if no one was standing on the concrete blocks mounted on top of the disc, it would raise it up for turnarounds then me and my brother would step back on after it was lowered.  Worked for a 30' x 50' garden. The 953 was equipped with the original B.F. Goodrich Silvertown  Power-Grip Ag tires,

Yea, I used mine a lot. A clevis hitch like Craig has pictured has more stability but it was never a problem. You can use a clevis adapter in the slot hitch so you can use clevis attachments.  :)
