hutchthis 0 #1 Posted May 17, 2016 One of the front pullies for the lawn mower belt has blown out on my 414-8. Can someone help me identify the part and/or a source? I have found some drawings on a couple sites for this mower, but they don't include this part. Can anyone help. Picture is attached. Thank you!
jackhammer 550 #2 Posted May 17, 2016 I think you can find what you need here. http://www.partstree.com/parts/toro/mower-deck-assemblies/05-42ms01-toro-42-side-discharge-mower-deck-1980/side-discharge-mowers-42-48-in-107-122-cm-vehicle-identification-number-05-42ms01_1/
hutchthis 0 #3 Posted May 17, 2016 Awesome. Thank you very much. I will likely need some assistance getting the other pulley and spacers off and the new one back on. Do you recommend replacing the other pulley at the same time? Will it be damaged in the removal process anyway? It is likely original. Thanks for your help. jackhammer 550 #4 Posted May 17, 2016 Best time to do it if money permits. and as you said most likely the other might have problems coming off. Good luck, hutchthis
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,449 #5 Posted May 17, 2016 Keep track of where the spacers are located. They are different lengths. Garry
KC9KAS 4,744 #6 Posted May 17, 2016 By the way, that is called a "mule drive".
hutchthis 0 #7 Posted May 18, 2016 Thanks for all the help, folks. Both pulleys and both spacers on their way. What's the mule drive? The pulley assembly in the front?
WHX?? 51,699 #8 Posted May 18, 2016 Yes the entire whichamacallit just below the bottom of the front of the hood is called the mule drive. It can usually be taken off easily to allow for other attachments. It turns the belt from the PTO to the angle the deck or other attachments require. Don't throw the old pulleys out as they can often be repaired. Like Garry said keep track of where spacers go as there placement is critcal along with proper belt routeing. In other words take lots of pictures of it for later reference in putting it back together. The correct manual helps too which can be found in the files section.
