austin joe 11 #3 Posted May 13, 2016 Thank you my problem is no spark at the plug besides the coil any other ideas. I mowed for three hours turned it off washed down and it wouldn't start. Cranks and I can smell gas but no ignition. I pulled the plug it was a little dirty cleaned it but after I put back I tried to arc the wire and nothing. Thanks again. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,510 #4 Posted May 13, 2016 That ignition is shut off by grounding the lone ignition wire. If water happened to get into one of the safety switches that is all it would take to defeat the ignition. Follow that ignition wire from the engine an see if you can disconnect it at the first switch you come to. Isolate the wire end so it makes no contact with anything and try starting again. If it starts you can shut it off by grounding that wire to the metal chassis. Perfectly good looking spark plugs can often fool us. I keep a new unused plug for such situations. Try it and if it works it stays in the engine and I obtain another spare. If it does not start the plug comes out for the next time. If it still won't run that service manual has a good section on the ignition. Go through that for a possible solution. A gentleman by the name of Ed Stoller (May not be spelled correctly) has done extensive work with this system as parts are very expensive if they can be found at all. He has repaired some of them.
