New Acquisition 58 or 59 rj

Recommended Posts

This came home with me...........from the local tractor show. It certainly has some issues , but, runs and drives fine. I have a kohler k91 hanging around so that will maybe be the ticket when I get around to restoring it. Would like to know what year it is .....if thats possible from the pictures...and if it could have had a k91 originally?? Thanks!!

Truely incredible...        :chores-chopwood:

the amount of hacking these poor little guys can endure, and still survive.

Great buy! You'll be fine. I saved this little fella and he'll be good as new by next year. That tractor is not that bad.

No, Not all that bad, Just a lot of do dads added on for no apparent reason. An afternoon with a grinder will get it ship shape. Without the correct engine, I am not sure if there's a definitive way to tell if its a 58, or 59...........if anyone knows....please chime in!  Thanks

Take those panels off and spot weld the holes and smooth them out and you won't even know they were there!

Thats one of the first things I will have to do................................Its hard looking at it in this state. I will have to check clearance for the top of the motor....looks like enough but, I would think the P.O. raised the hood for a reason???? As for the other welded on bits WHO KNOWS! MUST have served SOME purpose at some point

WTF?

Some people should not be permitted to own tractors.

So wrong!

Well, Took a pile of  "EXTRAS" off it and I think looks a lot better. A couple turns of the screwdriver and even the tecky is runnin' ok. Not really sure why hood was raised 4 1/2 "................everything clears the engine ok .its tight, but not really all that bad. I would like to think there was a reason people do things...but......what a pile of washer's nuts and spacers I have left!

Much better...

why does the Techy look like it's not sitting square on the frame?

In the pic.....it does look a little off. I just checked it and it  (the  engine) has a metal flange that is bolted to the bottom casting....maybe it has a SLIGHT angle to it, but, It is firmly on the frame rails. I am not sure what the engine came off of.it is a little hard to read,  but   HH70 looks like what it says. I am guessing it was a snow blower engine. Gonna have to do for now till I get the k91 running!
