macpark 3 #1 Posted April 25, 2016 Hello! I have a Wheel Horse 607 (in family since new) with a Tecumseh engine (2nd engine in the tractor) that needs some TLC. I am looking at swapping engines. This is what I was looking at putting in but I am wondering if there are other options out there. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200379207_200379207 From my reaching keeping it a Tecumseh HH60 or putting in a Kohler K181/M8 is going to give it the most original look. Any ideas if the Kohler Command Pro will work for me or if I am just asking for problems going that route? Thanks in advance.
Achto 29,413 #2 Posted April 25, 2016 The Kohler Command will work, the only issue you will have is the minor alterations you might have to make to install it.
slammer302 2,156 #3 Posted April 25, 2016 I have a few Tecumseh powered horses I usually just wait it out and find good used ones. You can also buy cheap aftermarket carbs for them and they seem to work well. The the motor you have the link to will work just fine. You may have to mod the muffler and buy a sleeve for the crank shaft
macpark 3 #4 Posted April 25, 2016 Thanks for the responses. I'm going to keep my eye out. I have seen some on the net. There are a couple small engine places close to me here so I might rebuild the tecky (or hire them to) after I swap the engine. Long live Wheel Horse!
