**Bought!** 211-5 buy? ***Pictures added***

I am looking at a 211-5 wheel horse this afternoon. It's a one owner garage kept tractor. Pictures from cl shows a gorgeous really no flaws. I talked to ther owner and he says it runs and cuts great. He has original manual and receipts in plastic still. He was looking for 400 for it. Can I get any advice on it / what to look for / think 400 is fair? My dad and grandpa owned wheel horses and I would love to carry on the tradition

Any idea of the amount of hours on the machine? And also what do you plan to use it for, just mowing? Or do you need something to blade snow, plow the garden or power a snow thrower?

It has just under 700 hours and mainly mowing maybe snow blade if possible but would be a few times a year (not as worried about)

As a lawn tractor to mow the yard I don't personally think that 400 dollars is a bad price providing the previous owner is accurate on his description and has kept it properly serviced.

When you consider that a new push mower is almost $300, $400 sounds pretty good and you can ride it.    Pictures look nice.  Just know that the vertical shaft horses are not garden tractors.

Don't get me wrong...that is a great horse and will be plenty for mowing and moving snow.  It is just not made to pull plows, tillers and such.

I had a 212-5 given to me last summer. Has chrome hubcaps. Needs a motor and I found a 14 hp ohv for it for 50 bucks.

          It will probably out last a new Big Box mower that cost three times as much. Keep it well maintained and it will give you another thirty years of service.  This manual may come in handy.

Came home with it today. The guy threw in a spreader that connectshe to the back also. This little baby got me into the family! Thanks for the manual! The original manual came with mine but it is good to have a computer copy for sure! The old guy that had this rubbed it down with wax and that's how he stored it. Needs a good cleaning but looks sharp for being 30 years old.

I had a 211-5 once and it was a nice little tractor to cut grass and do some small chores. I think you did good at $400 considering that it still looks new!

Thanks! I am excited to get home and cut the grass this afternoon! Any advice on maintaining it?

Change the engine oil regularly and keep it greased where it needs to be greased. I broke the clutch pedal on mine right at the base, now that could be due to the fact that it was broken before I got it and the previous owner did a poor job of welding it. Other than that it should be no different than any other tractor.
