bluebug 27 #1 Posted April 13, 2016 My 523Dxi has slowed down to a crawl. Looks like I will be doing a rebuild soon. Other than keeping the balls in the correct locations, is there anything special I need to look for? I cannot find any information on ball dimensions, how can I determine if they are worn or not? What is the likelihood that the ball rotors are worn internally? How about the dimensions on the Pintle and internal bore of the ball rotors? Clark
WVHillbilly520H 10,376 #2 Posted April 14, 2016 I could sell you a low hour (282) non running 523Dxi and just swap out rearends, on a side note could it just be out of adjustment from the direction paddle to the linkages on the hydro, many posts on here about adjusting all that first from other Xi owners that's the route I'd go before tearing apart just my ,Jeff. shallowwatersailor 3,214 #3 Posted April 14, 2016 Have you checked the linkages and/or the fluid level? Is it faster in reverse?
bluebug 27 #4 Posted April 14, 2016 (edited) I have checked fluid level and it is full. I have not checked/adjusted linkages. I have not checked the charge pressure yet either. It runs faster when cold than it does once warmed up. Reverse does not seem to be affected as much as forward. Clark Edited April 14, 2016 by bluebug
WVHillbilly520H 10,376 #5 Posted April 14, 2016 I had a similar issue on my 520H but it was from oil/gunk/grass chaffe build up on the pump fins, no matter how good you think you have it clean until you pull the fender pan you'll never know how much stuff builds up in there, once I pressure washed the pump/hydro off changed fluid and filter just like new again,Jeff. No not yet but the fuel system has me puzzled at the moment ,not a diesel guru by no means and sometimes the gasoline powered throws me a curve ball, I've only tinkered on the Dxi a couple hours so far not giving up that easy yet,Jeff.
bluebug 27 #8 Posted April 18, 2016 I did an oil and filter change last fall. I cleaned the steering screen this weekend. I found a little, but not much, metal on the screen. The charge pressure tested out at 40 PSI. Clark
bluebug 27 #9 Posted December 3, 2016 Ordered a gasket kit for the 1100 and tore it apart this week. Balls do not show any wear. Oil was clean. Pump rotor balls measure 0.9985 with bores of 0.9995. Drive rotor balls measure 1.2485 with bores of 1.2520. There is no wear on the charge pump plate or rotor. Will reassemble it this weekend and reinstall it in the tractor. Will readjust linkages on installation and plan on removing the Smart Turn linkage. Clark
bluebug 27 #10 Posted December 30, 2016 I put it all back together and installed it back into the tractor. I found the neutral eccentric 180 degrees out of position. Clark
