My latest acquisition- 520H

Recommended Posts

Aldon

I ended up with an unexpected tractor this week. Ended up getting a call from craigslist ad for my GT14 I had listed. Worked out a deal that included me taking custody of this 520H. The fella ended up being a big wheel horse fan and is a member of this forum but I neglected to ask his screen name. Duh!!!!

He has several wheel horses and had this spare 520 that he had needed the deck off of.

Not sure if I will adopt it into the permanent herd as I have plenty of projects to keep me busy through to next year at this point.

It smokes a bit but runs great. Hydro is good. Has front swept axles etc. but plenty of time will be required to bring it back to glory.

i just can't seem to downsize the herd no matter how much I try!

while I eventually want a nice 520, I think this ones stay will be temporary.

just a quick note about your newest 520, do you think you might be parting it out?? I'm looking to buy the plastic light monitor panel  if you'd want to sell it. Possibly some other items off it as well.

thanks

Parting it out is a possibility but not my first choice. If that's the course I take, you will see listings in the classified section.

Short answer/No.

Longer answer, Both myself and the other fellow involved in transaction live in the Saratoga NY area. Specifically Corinth/Greenfield Center area.

This is the option I would prefer.

However, a few things that probably mean this is least likely to occur.

Storage space. I sold a C-195 in great shape last summer as I no longer have space to store additional tractors. I could store it under tarp until I can get to this project as I doubt it would degrade much further...but see last reason.

Liquidity - I could use the cash to complete other projects, "GT14 Restomod & Lazarus". As I come down to the final laps on the Restomod it seems like I spend 50-75 bucks every time I turn around on the minutia stuff. Mostly though, trying to finish with enough in slush fund to hit the Big Show and not be on fumes.

Lastly, and the biggest reason, my wife while having shown tolerance to pretty much let me do what I wish with this obsession has reached a point where she voiced she felt I should reduce and finish a couple projects...It is significant that she actually voiced this to me so to garner good will, I will most likely set a budget of what I need to wrap up both projects and then list the tractor. If it sells whole to someone who will save it, that is good and ideal. Otherwise, I will start parting it out. Only way I see keeping it is if I have some sort of good karma event:-)

Mr. T.

Well, they say a happy wife makes for a happy home, so consciously trying to be on the plus side of that equation, is a darn good idea.
