520H "Classics" front weight hanger

Since I picked up 2 new to me horses another 520H and 523Dxi ,I decided to redo my front weight hanger that I modified for the rear all told I made a new one from scratch...1/2" thick cold roll steel used for sides and center,6" long x 3" wide sides, 8"wide x 4" tall for 3 40# "green" weights 4 3/4" from front edge to center of 5/8" diameter hole for attach a matic rod, total width 8 1/2" hopefully you'll get the dimensions by following the pics, and this should work with any classic  since 1971 with the front attach a matic...  oh I used the small button head bolts to secure for fab up before welding it together and the 3/8" x 1/2" welded to the bottom is to keep it level in the front hitch...hopefully have gave you enough information to build one of your own but if not I'll and get a blue print drawn up and post as well,Jeff.

And how much ya selling them for lmao..? I and many others maybe interested,,, looks like they may need to come out another inch tho so when you open hood it doesnt hit,, looks super close in the pics.. Awesome job tho,, best weight hangers i habe seen yet..

So glad to make your day but when running the tiller or other rear mounted attachments it does make a difference, and since I've owned my 520H Anniversary since new I honestly believe I know how light it gets in the front doing these jobs,Jeff.

I agree ,, i have been looking for a good weight hanger for a long time ,,, if ya decide to sell them post it and i might be interested in one looks great and super simple on and off the machine with attach-a-matic use.. Great design bud..

Hood is full tilt open approximately      3/16" clearance hard too see in the picture sorry , but more than one gets with the 2 stage blower on, and no I don't plan on making and selling but if someone else wants to take my idea improve it and run with it by all means I figured some on here might just like the general dimensions and go for it themselves, that tiller hanging off the back and my weighted box blade made for some "light" steering when I used to grade my parents WV driveway before I bought the Kioti... The one thing I wish I could have done was "break" bend the side "ears" in to match the frame/mule drive width for an even cleaner factory look instead of using spacers but if one were to only use 2 weights then it wouldn't have to be as wide but 3 takes the full 8" bar...

So my wishing got the better of me today and a little blacksmithing later on down sized material 3/8" thick this time and here it is in pre fab mode...bent the sides to match the frame width @ the front attach-a-matic...maybe I should patent it and farm it out for manufacturing ...Anyways guys hope you all like it and get inspired,Jeff.

John Deere dealer (I know the desecration) near here in VA sells them, cast iron no Deere logo 43# each, Sears might but I think theirs are 25#, Kubota/Kioti dealer? but definitely "green" my were new,Jeff.

The blue print before I bent the side ears to width...that was done with the torch and vice approximately 1 1/2" from one end folded 90 degrees let cool put that end in the vice 1/2" above bend heat and bend back straight

Ok the second design finished and on the tractor...1 weight seems to be a bit taller than the other 2 so it needs some modifications but the hood doesn't hit full tilt otherwise,Jeff.....BTW working on a third and final one that one may very well be sold here in the classifieds.

Anybody looking for this style of weight can find them on Craigs List and Home Depot sells them too.

The older ones had no logo on them ,so once you paint them, no one knows they are from that company with the antlers.

 

So what does your bracket weigh in at?????

The weights weren't properly painted the first go round but yes dirt and rust and green showing through and my test fit tractor hasn't been touched since buying it on Good Friday waiting for better weather to clean things up...sneak peek of #3 the final 1...Jeff    if I had to guess the bracket itself weighs 5-7 lbs then 3 43# weights

That is awesome.  I just picked up a 520H, but don't have a tiller yet.  I do have a plow.  This is a great design, and looks very professional.  Would be nice to have a CNC plasma cutter for this type of work.

Done on a CNC milling machine with the help of Mill write software for the engraving...just part of my job duties at work...lol,Jeff.

Nice looking work. Are you going to make them custom for other models besides the 520? Or what about the  design? That might not be easily machinable. I made some rear wheel weights from steel plate that i would love to be able to engrave. As they are now, the whole rear wheel center is just filled with a flat plate.

 Thank you ,Sorry those are the only one's I'm making, and the engraving was done with now defunct software that I kept downloaded on a disk when I made my wheel weight caps,so I can't even change that except leaving 520H off ,Jeff.
