Phatboy 565 #1 Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) Guys i was wondering in what year did Onan start putting the new style connecting rods in their engines anyone have a definative answer ? The old style has the hole in the connecting rod the new style is solid .. My OCD curiosity for the answer is Buzzing in my head lol..cant fond the answer anywhere on internet or on here,, the new style is part number 170-4447,, dont know the old style number.. BESTDOGEVER 218 #3 Posted April 1, 2016 I am not positive but what I got from the guys at my local Cummins dealer is that they get the parts made from different sources as they run out and different suppliers account for some of the changes. They may ise different suppliers but that does not change the design as Onan/cummins habe changed the part number to retro act to the new rods,, one of the Onan gurus over on a different forum said he know they used new style in 97 and 98 bit not 100% sure on earlier versions ,, onan has changed rod number to 170-4447 for the rods which is the new rod style... I have his home number,, he said he knew 97 and 98 had new style but he did not know about 96,, he said he had a 95 once but he could not remember which it had ,, but thanks for the tip tho as it was a excellent one ,, yes for sure he is the man when it comes down to Onans..
