briankd 819 #1 Posted March 27, 2016 been awhile haven't had this tractor out since last fall didn't have any snow to plow this year. Took off the plow and chains last week. put my ag tires on. all tires on this have washer fluid in them and wow what a difference it makes!! there a lot of weight pulling this roller especially when it is up and down hills. makes the ole 8 horse grunt a little . got into into an argument with a guy called my 857 a lawn mower dam I got mad . them things you buy at lowes and walmart a lawn mower i told him not this. them lawnmowers wouldn't pull this roller they would smoke the trans on them. was at my local lowes yesterday and looking at the crap they have there and no way in hell would spend that kinda money on them crapy green and orange mowers.

TDF5G 2,073 #9 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) Orscheln had lawn rollers on sale a few weeks ago, so I picked up one. It supposed to be 540lbs, when full of water. Tried it out with the B-100 with turfs and wheel weights, this past Friday. She pulled it just fine, no loss of power at all. Run it over the yard in 1st gear about half throttle. No struggle on the hills. Moles have been the worst I've ever seen this year. Mashed 'em down flat! Also rolled the gravel drive after grading it too. Gotta take time to paint my wheel weights sometime! 18 hours ago, briankd said: got into into an argument with a guy called my 857 a lawn mower dam I got mad . them things you buy at lowes and walmart a lawn mower i told him not this. them lawnmowers wouldn't pull this roller they would smoke the trans on them. was at my local lowes yesterday and looking at the crap they have there and no way in hell would spend that kinda money on them crapy green and orange mowers. Most folks don't know the difference, everything is a "lawn mower". I hate that too. My Dad and I were discussing this the other day at the store, looking over all the new "lawn mowers." He doesn't like the looks of the new ones either. Wheel Horse had the best looking tractors! Edited March 28, 2016 by TDF5G

Looks massive well not sure. may be an ag fab roller my dad bought this from our local old wheel horse dealer few years ago new . I just borrow it from time to time he weighed it once full water it was 900- 1000 lbs. had another one used once was twice the size. told dad that if he bought one that way I could use it and I didn't have to store it then. he just bought another toy a pull behind yard sprayer . lol he bought it so I can use it. can't wait to try it out. just got done rolling an 1.5 acre yard for my inlaws with this wasn't pay attention where I was going and got into a soft spot tried to put it in 3rd gear hell them ag tires just dug down before I knew it it was sitting buried to the axles. had to get truck with strap and pull it out .

Retired Wrencher 5,792 #15 Posted March 31, 2016 Brian the 857 looks good for 15 years on the resto. Those are nice tractors. I always get a kick out hearing the S/Gen starting the engine. Nothing sounds like it. Can not be duplicated.

Can not be duplicated. one reason why I retired it from mowing. the 36 in. rear discharge destroyed the rear rims. took a lot of time and effort to restore. wife wasn't happy with the cash I dumped into restoring it. then a year later the oil flinger on rod fell off and it smoked the ole k181 and had to redo it a second time
Retired Wrencher 5,792 #19 Posted April 1, 2016 Some times You like some thing so much that you just want to keep it the way it was. As for the better half they will never understand. It just Gods nature. I just bought a Harbor Freight trailer to pick up the good stuff. I am not doing like most taken my time putting it together [all most a month]. Going the extra mile on this. I am tubing all the wires very time consuming, But a fun project. Well enjoy the 857.
