Wheel horse Mower

Recommended Posts

curly

Guys I learned a good lesson over the weekend. I found a good looking wheelhorse on Craigslist cinn. Beautiful mower, called guy he advised would hold for me but only if I prepaid by CC. I did so out of trust--Drove 175 miles today to be very disgusted when I arrived the mower that he had for me was not the one in the photo on craigslist. I needed rear end for my 418-8 so I took anyway. But guys learned me 1 thiing never take anyones word any more seems it does not exist. And never prepay until merchandise is seen. This machine has been painted decals and all so I can not even find model number. Do not mean to take up your time but sooner or later may happen to some member on here.

sorry that this happened  but you should always copy the listing and take it with you! as for pre-paying :D its best if you use a postal money order as they are insured and to get them certified! :omg: i sell alot and buy alot and accept pre-pay aswell as pay ahead of time on items! you definitly cant trust everyone, but you also cant put them all in the same boat :hide: its better to get a name address and phone number to contact them , and possibly go check out what is for sale if close enough :omg: as for the item being different than the one pictured :D i would have requested my money back or at least a reduced price! that was false advertisement(if done on purpose) and you would not have to of went through with it :hide:

Guys I posted photos and did not hear from anyone--but thru lots of researching--cleaning paint and magnifying decals after paint removal I have determined that this Mower is a 310-8 with model number 21-10K803. But really did not make any difference I am stripping it down and parting out what I do not use.

Thanks to those who responded> I will try and not bug you guys with my problems in the future.

Curly,

I think that's a 308-8. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 308-8 is the only 300 series with the fuel tank under the hood. :hide:

Under edit:

It looks like there is a fuel tank under the fender deck - someone must have been tinkering with it and tried to bypass the fuel system. So it must be really a 310-8.

Thanks guys it really is a 310-8 according to model numbers and sorry T-MO that gas tank was put there by some idiot. Has agreat sounding 10 HP Kohler. No smoke or noises detected.

Curly,

Yep, you got a 310-8 there. There a good machine but I know what you mean about the bait and switch deal. The good news, you can still use the tranny, bad news is, it's not an 8 pinion like the one on your 418-8. Also the deal depends on what you paid for it, and there really is no way to judge a good price. I try to go with what it is worth to me, and hope it's worth the same to the other guy. So far, I've not been to far off the base when selling some of the things I've sold. There are guys out there though that think what they have is worth gold but they are easy enough to pick out from the regular crowd. You can also find the unbeileveable deals that come once and a lifetime although I've only been privy to two of those so far.

Aside from that, if you decide to keep her, that 310 would certainly make a nice backup unit for what ever. I keep a couple handy just in case. LOL or thats what I tell the wife... :hide:

Hey Curly, When you get around to parting it out, I might be interested in taking the Kohler off your hands. Kinda depends on work and money thou (we've got the next 22+ days off w/o pay - and after we return the amount of work is uncertain)

Hey 4starcstms There is such a thing as unemployment unless you are self employed. I would definitely check into. I am sitting here still waiting for mine.

3 weeks and counting hopefully before the holidays. Burly

Well Yes there is unemployment...however the outfit i drive for says they will find work foreverybody...the only problem is instead of having enough to pay the bills...they only give 1000 or 1200 miles instead of the 2800 or 3000 needed to pay the bills... and by offering 'some' work...they dont have to pay unemployment..(already called)

Pretty Crappy IMO to let your people that built your company into one of Inc magazines 500 fastest growing companies.... go hungry and no be able to pay their bills..

Ok, One other question. Can you file for partial unemployment? I mean if what you make doesn't add up to what you would make on unemployment I would think you could file a claim for the rest to help cover the bills. Don't know just asking?

Dunno. They got me covered for the rest of the week (33 hrs between now and Sunday) Plus the 10 I did yesterday put me Over 40, and they wanted me to work today, but I know there are other drivers sitting at home.

We'll see what the first of the year brings when the Amazon.Com Account isnt in full swing (dies off after the holiday season)

Sorry For HiJacking the thread!! I really would like to buy that Kohler from ya when you get around to it!

Scott do not worry about hi-jacking thread. Sorry to hear things are slow but seems the way of everything now--heck man I have a small collectibles business and that sucks right now. People just not buying that much diecast at the present.

Have not really decided on selling motor but if I did what would anybody on here consider a fair price. Motor run out the best with no smoke or noise. Much better than a 14hp I have on a JD.

That diffenatly sucks, I dont know how I would have delt with it after paying for it and then driving to pick up something that was misreprisented.

If you do decide to part it out I would be interisted in the rear wheels. I have a 310-8 with ags on it but would like to be able to switch to turfs without changing tires. Im sure that other members here would like a thing or two off of it.

What ever you decide to do good luck with it.

P.J.

Scott I have read your replies and taken for granted you are a truck driver. You mentioned Amazon.com do you pull anything out of Campbellsville, Ky. Just thought I would ask. And I may be selling the wheels in the near future will keep you in mind.
