Good evening all:

Wondering what the general knowledge of the value is for a 1989 520H with under 300 hrs. is. Showblower, blade, weights and chains and 1 owner with manuals would bring?

Rob

Weights and chains=100-150

Plow (no extension on an 89)=150-200

89 520, no swept axle, no gear reduction steering, 300hrs, all lights work, good tires, no rust=700

I wouldn't pay  over $1000 if everything is in good shape, and it really looks like a 300 hour machine.

Price goes down as I discover things that need to be fixed.

300 hours isn't much for that Onan. If you are happy with the engine, the hydro pump, and the tires, It would be hard to pass up.

Personally, I prefer '91 and newer models, but if you don't use a 60" deck or a loader, I think the '89 is fine.

If you add a foot control, and get rid of the wonky drive lever between the legs, it might be really nice

I know right. Opening up a new hotel is VERY VERY VERY, wait did I say VERY, taxing on the personal time I use to have. And now we just put in a proposal and did the pitch yesterday for the Convention Center. If we land that also, you may not hear from Rob for a year. Great to always feel the LOVE!!!

What is the blower worth, never been used.

And, no mower deck? I would seriously consider this fact a minus. Unless of course you have a deck or no use for one.

You really need to take into consideration the condition of the tractor as well. I have seen some rotted out 300 hour tractors. Who knows where it was stored and cared for.  Without seeing it I would say between $600 and $1400. Thats a big difference but condition is everything.

SIngle stage or two-stage thrower?

Does it have all the lift parts, springs, and anti-sway brackets?

I haven't messed with a single stage for years, so I don't know what they go for.

Two stage throwers start around $500 here if they are complete,

and I saw one that was mint go for $800 last fall.

P.S.  Those RD decks seem to sell fast.  42" is a little narrow for my tastes, but they are nice.

$200 for a nice SD 42"deck, maybe $300 for RD

I think I am going to look further into this matter. It seems that the horse has been sitting since 1998. Only used for 10 years and then was put away because it was no longer needed. The blower was never used, it is said to be "never used" brand new. Seems like it may be a barn find of sort. Trying to find out.

The only thing I am wondering about is the Hydro... Why in the Heck did Wheel Horse place the hydro lever where they did? That is one ugly place for a hydro lever in my opinion.

I think they put it there to make it easier to convert them to foot control. :laughing-rolling:

I actually like the '88-89 levers  better that the column levers.

The lever between your legs actually works better than the later steering column ones.

However, Matt's foot pedal kit will make either one much better.

i agree i don't like it there either, i actually go against the grain on here and like the column levers, but then again i've never used a foot control either. i defiantly like the lift lever up on the column. i also like the older C120 style long handle hydro motion control levers.

i was up at the Fraley's auction in Muncey pa and there was 2 520 went under the hammer. 1 was 91 with gear reduction steering and a 60" deck, but with 2400 hrs showing on it and low oil on the dip stick and possible low compression. it had a dead battery so it couldn't be started. i valued it at best at $500.00 but figured it might go a little higher. it brought $ 1200.00 and the guy that bought said it was worth it for parts. i said to myself if you think so buddy but not in my book, although it did have what looked like a 420lse chrome wheel on the right side covered under silver paint, but it had rust on it. the second 520 was and 88 or 89 that started and ran with a newer 42" sd deck on it the hr meter was replaced with low hrs showing and the tractor was in better then average condition. it brought $ 1800.00, and it also had 4 good chrome hubcaps. both tractors brought more then i would have paid but both new owners were happy. sorry didn't think to get any pictures :hide:

Like the RD decks. The Ms. would tow a sweeper, a quick and clean lawn.

Better yet, was done by the time I got home from wo...wo....WORK.  :handgestures-thumbupright:

I agree with eric here.....My first WH, the C-120  is still the best smoothest operating of all the hydros I have.
