Recommended Posts

I am hooking up the 48 inch mower deck to the D200.Not sure if I a, hooking it up right but when I lift the deck up alittle the belt spins faster and when I lower the deck ,the belt almost stops. Not sure if I have the right belt or if its hooked up right to the pully. Here are some pics.

Are the springs on the mule drive okay or is the mule drive free. It would seem that the problem might be in the mule drive

I think thats right. I was just looking for belts for my rear PTO that operates from the back pulley and found three different belt lengths listed. Are you sure you have the right belt?

They should be around the red markings, but I would take it off and measure it. Do you know what length it is supposed to be, or what belt it is supposed to be?

I think the length is 105 inchs but I am not sure.I have another belt that's a little wider but not sure which belt it is when I got the deck.

Supposed to be part number 102868, which s listed as 1/2" wide by 105" long, BUT I think this mower also went on the big C series as well and that belt size may be for the C and not the D. I just recently acquired my two D's and am still working on getting a deck on one, so I'm not up to speed on this as much as you need. Hopefully someone else will chime in. Calling Pacer, lol

Original drive belt 1/2" x 105.5"

Also true for the first deck in 1973

And the last in 1982

ok the belt is 105.5 and 1/2 inch but it came with the mower deck and is older.A few more questions.I can move the belt very easy when hooked up to the pto and mowing deck so nothings obstructing it.It seems like the mowing blades are moving as quickly as my wheelhorse 417 or it could be my imagination. Also the lift rockshaft hits the mower deck and pushes it into the ground.Anyway to stop that?

You should have a chain somewhere in the lift linkage for a mower deck.

Either fron the rockshaft to the bar, or from the bar to the deck.

Looks like you have solid linkages.

Good for down pressure on a blade, but not good for mower float.

I am going to buy a new belt tomorrow but I was thinking I have never owned a 48 inch deck.Doe the 48 deck move slower then the 42 inch decks as far as spindles go.I haven't tried mowing anything because the ground is still dead.Even on low idle I press the pto lever and the belt moves with ease so is it suppose to move slower then the 42 inch decks which seem to be quicker?granted this is all what I think I am seeing.ANy ideas besides getting a new belt?

cleaned the mule drive pulleys and got them spinning more freely then they were. Also going to buy a new belt tomorrow so that should help also.

is the pto clutch slipping when you engage the deck, just a thought

how would you tell if it was slipping?

is the clutch still spinning when the deck stalls or is it  spinning if it stalls, then you need to determine what is slipping.
