Live4outdoors 151 #1 Posted March 12, 2016 Hey all, I have a Techy with a Walbro carb, according to the dealer that's a rarity but it was factory. Had to special order the rebuild kit. Mind you tractor ran and drove just was rough, couldn't adjust it out so decided to do a rebuild on the carb. Now the tractor starts but fuel dumps out of the idle adjust screw as soon as it starts to run. It is the original screw for the kit didn't have a replacement, the point looks fine and worked before, there wasn't any seals before and not sure how it could have been since the threads are exposed when adjusted. I thought about thread sealing compound, but thought I better ask the group for help since there isn't any sign of sealant from before. Thanks all!
slammer302 2,156 #2 Posted March 12, 2016 I'm kinda thinking the float may need adjusted looks like alot of fuel is coming out the carb
Live4outdoors 151 #3 Posted March 12, 2016 I tried that tore back apart and rechecked float and right where it's suppose to be. I did think maybe the main jet since its new needle on old seat, but there's not suppose to be fuel at the idle mixture screw for that's an air adjustment correct? I am ready to put the fill seat and needle original back in since the new was completely different. It fit but just totally different. First I'm thinking of tinkering with the main. wallfish 18,193 #4 Posted March 12, 2016 Extra fuel dumping into the carb is usually caused by a problem at the float and/or that valve. There should've been a little O ring seal inside the hole for the idle mixture screw. Rebuild kit should've come with a new seat along with the new needle. Also check the float to be sure it doesn't have a hole in it and letting fuel inside of it. Just a tiny bit will cause it to be out of position to close the valve properly. Give it a shake and listen to check it.
Live4outdoors 151 #5 Posted March 16, 2016 (edited) well here's an example of throw the books away, took it back apart, measurement for the float right on what the book said, but it was leaning down hill, tweaked it up level out of the books range and working like a top now, did I mention I hate carbs!
