Looking for 702 belt guard pics

Recommended Posts

Looking for close up pics of a 702 belt guard on engine , pully end . Mine missing the engine mount tab . Also is there supposed to be a finger that sticks out underneath the belt pully ( mine looks like it didn't have one ) .

My idea If someone has a guard off ,  put the guard face down , lay the paper on it , rub a crayon over it , then I would have a templet of the tab , finger if has one , and to see if my guard was cut . Thanks

The  702 Belt Guard is a Part #  4202   in the Wheel Horse Manual.   The  701 Belt Guard is also a  4202 in the manual.

The first three pictures are of the belt guard on my 701 tractor.

I have another  belt guard which I am going to use to make a 701 belt guard for another 701 tractor I just bought.    .   Note the guard has no indentation for a  Wheel Horse Model Decal.

The one I have  has a tab in the center of the guard for attaching to a  Tecumseh motor.

Not sure what this is off of but an early Wheel Horse where Tecumseh was the original motor.   I am going to  remove the center tab and place a new tab on top the guard to attach  the guard with a bolt to a Kohler  7HP  motor.

If you look at the pics of my 701 belt guard  (and I believe mine is Not and original 701 guard)   I have no tab underneath the guard  but there is a wire tab attached to the motor which accomplishes the same thing!  That is an alternative for you.

The little grey tab with the hole is what I fabricated to be welded on the  belt guard to attach to a Kohler motor.

Thanks , Internet was down for a while . I be leave mine to be original . My top tab looks like it was riveted on ( is this correct ) . No indication of bottom tab . There is a piece riveted on the bottom of my guard is this factory , or a fix ?image.thumb.jpeg.cf1714b91afc9a58508ae64image.thumb.jpeg.d0c646ac9e30d5976206fafimage.thumb.jpeg.7b66ffa83c16519cb704b89

I would say the riveted work are repairs or fixes for some reason.  Most of those things were welded on.   That wire  belt stop in the third photo I  shared  may be the easiest way to adjust your  belt when depressing the clutch pedal.    The  top tab  just really holds the belt guard on the motor.

ACman:  In your third picture I just noticed that the  belt gaurd is indented on inside.     That means body puddy was used to fill the  indentation on the outside  which you can see fainty in the paint differences.      So that belt guard was from something else for sure!

I've done body work in my younger years and see no indication of filler . If you look at the last picture you can see the 702 sticker in the indent . Also the sticker was taped before painting . I just want to make my tab and finger look like it came from factory . I found a pic of Two 753 guards on CL one has indent the other one doesn't , but both of them have the finger on the bottom . I bought the tactor from another member who bought it from original owner and from the paint it looks to be born on that tractor .

Here's some pics of the 753 guards .image.thumb.jpeg.5d2dec9856cb26e43c4fb39

I see your guard looks like the bottom pic ,looks like the mother tab was added and has the extra hole . Where mine looks like the top one . I've trolled through the gallery but I haven't found a clear enough pic to tell if it has the lower tab .image.thumb.jpeg.3653dd5c94561f99436a976
