was at the local mower shop yesterday looking for parts and I ran across this. ask my buddy that owns the place and he said an older gentleman brought this wheel horse in and wanted it worked on. he did the work and after tried and tried to reach the ole guy but could never contact him .THAT WAS 8 YEARS AGO!!! maybe this older gentleman died know one knows. this has been sitting in this spot that long.it has snow blade attached and as you can see a snow cab what is left of it. this pics are from my phone was pouring rain and wading  thru 6" mud so I didn't check it out that well. any idea from the numbers on hood what this is? looks like a C series to me . I didn't think at the time to look at model plate under dash was cold and rainy as hell.  thanks

Yes, you should check about saving her if you can!    I see a mower deck too.

I was back looking at it tonight and it does have a kohler  k181 in it. has a deck which is in great shape the front mule drive and all the brackets for deck also has a useable clevis hitch on back. makes me wonder what other attachments he had for this. looked at ID tag and this what it is:

                                                                                 01-11BH01-24454

                                                                                           2050

mower shop is going to look back at the old work orders and try once again to contact and if not this may come home with me.im not really wild about a briggs prefer a kohler. the k181 looks small sitting in it though lots of room there for bigger engine.

that frame will accept many other engines if the 8hp isn't up to what you need

I'm good friends with the old local wheel horse dealer he has a barn full of old kohlers  thought maybe put a 12 in it and turn it into a c-125 with new decals and all. then this k181 would be a spare for my 857:D  this a dam shame this sat this way out in the weather and went to hell like it did !! looking at paint was probably real nice when it was brought in to be work on

the SB 421, special ?? , briggs, 42" deck 11 hp motor. they also made a SK486, kohler, 48" deck, 16 hp kohler, i guess i'm having a senior moment i thought that their was another one but can't remember. wheel horse was using up left over parts, if you search on here i know that there has been other topics on these tractors.

You are likely thinking of the SK-486. I believe every Special was issued to use up an excessive inventory of parts.

briankd,

btw, Where was this mower shop? In Ohio or elsewhere?
There's a big place in Bluffton IN, that why I'm wondering where the place you are referring to is located.
From what your pics show, there looks to be a lot of inventory in the background.

yes there is a lot of stuff at this place. it right next door to where I work. the guy that owns and runs it hell of a nice guy knew him for many many years. it like a scrap yard for mowers and garden tractors.:) and yes it in ohio . near Sidney. last week he hauled 2 16 foot trailers off stuff away but scrap price way down he needed more room.

same guy has some old wheel horses redone that I may talk him out of. a 875  701 and a few other. told me other day he tired of them in his barn in the way he said may as well sell them he don't have time like he thought to play around with them.
