Hello guys. Bought this tractor this winter and been buying some parts for it but see some things are year specific. Already bought an air filter that doesnt fit... The previous owner said it is a 1992 but the plate/sticker where the serial number is not there anymore. So here is a few pictures for helping you help me out. I also know it has a 42" RD but not sure of that model number either. I just today broke the lifting eye bolt and trunnion. I researched some and it looks like there are different part numbers between a 85/86-87/88/89.

Coming up with 104524  for 85-86 and then other number 6739, kinda hoping it the later as its a lot cheaper new. (Just did a littler more research and it looks as though the 6739 trunnion is non threaded, so I guess I have either a 85-86 mower here)

Researching I think the numbers below (Spec NO 47812) match a 1985 mower. Let me know if I am wrong. I ordered an air filter for a Kohler Magnum and what came is defiantly not whats on the mower.

The K301S-47812 was only used in 1985 and the Kohler serial number 14167247 was made in 1984 which makes sense.

That makes your tractor a 1985 model that used model number 21-12K801.

Here is a parts list but not the best as it is shared with models that used different engines. In most cases it does not tell us which model used which part. If in doubt post the query so you don't end up with the wrong parts.

A 36" width of cut rear discharge deck possibility - not necessarily what you have

I thought at first your steering wheel might not be original, but now I'm not sure.  There's two photos of an '85 312-8 in the Picture Gallery, the first with a steering wheel that looks like my '86 310-8, the second looks more like yours:

Your engine is definitely a Kohler K-series, not a Magnum.

can whlvr

these are some what rare as far as 3-400 series,as most are the magnum engine, you have a k,basically the same engine but the magnum has a different ignition, starter, flywheel, engine tins, but the k,s are very, very solid engines, the 312 is a very stout tractor and yours looks nice

My steering wheel has the Toro logo on it so I doubt its original to the tractor.

I've ordered a trunnion part number 104524. Hope it's the right one and will just to go to local hardware store and get the chain and eye bolt.

This all started because my mower deck would only raise .5" off ground. Broke the eye bolt trying to get it to move and then the trunnion once off, had seen better days. Thanks guys.
