kenbro 0 #1 Posted February 27, 2016 Can i run bigger front tires on my 312-8?
JAinVA 4,637 #2 Posted February 27, 2016 Not a problem.I just mounted a set of 16x6.5x8 tires yesterday on my 310-8 in place of the stock 6 inch tires. It seems to be the most popular upgrade for the 300 series.Getting the rims seems to be the biggest challange, since everyone wants them. Phatboy 565 #3 Posted February 27, 2016 I just bought a set of 16x6.50-8 ags for the front of mine and got the rims off ebay brand new from miller tire,, 2 of them were like $100 bucks , they seem to be made very well, only thing is the the valve stem is on the outside instead of inside,, and i got craftsman rubber dust caps to keep the dirt out ,,so i just got a shorty valve stem , so no worrys about hitting it on any thing
can whlvr 994 #4 Posted February 27, 2016 the spindles are different,i changed mine when I did the swap years ago but you don't have too, just check how it sits before you put the new tires and rims on,so you can adjust the mower deck if needed
pfrederi 18,690 #5 Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) Most of the 300s had 6" front wheel and the spindles were longer to make up for the small wheel and keep the tractor level. If you put 8" wheel you will raise the front of the tractor an inch. i like Cn whlvr replaced spindles when I went o 8" (They ride better on the rough ground I have..also went to bigger rears)...but since she isn't on mower duty I doubt i needed to. 953 nut 60,096 #6 Posted February 27, 2016 The 8" rims and tires from the older will fit right on, I had to put a couple of washers behind them to make up the length of the spindle. You will have to adjust the mower to make it be level, but otherwise no problem.

Luck,JAinVA I've got 16-6.50x8'' on my trailer. Why can't I just swap them out?? I've also got a 310-8.
JAinVA 4,637 #8 Posted February 28, 2016 They should work if the cart axle is 3/4".From the pictures of the cart it looks as if the wheel is centered on the hub.No offset. If that is the case you could use washers as spacers to get the proper offset. As pointed out by others 16" tires will raise the front of the 300 series.Kinda looks like the gasser dragster of the sixties.JAinVA
chip61 666 #9 Posted February 28, 2016 I believe the only issue with the larger tires is if you are running the 37" deck, the larger tires won't clear.
