scotty 252 #1 Posted February 25, 2016 I put a solenoid on an electro 12 and it's turns over fine but now it won't shut off This one originally did not have a solenoid all of it was hooked to the keyswitch
pfrederi 18,567 #2 Posted February 25, 2016 What spec number engine Electros came with at least 2 different ones 47147 could have Starter Generator 47371 looks like regular starter. Did you accidentally disconnect the magneto wire from the switch? Does grounding Mag wire stop things
scotty 252 #3 Posted February 25, 2016 There was no wiring on this tractor where should the magneto wire come and its the one with the regular starter
pfrederi 18,567 #4 Posted February 25, 2016 Should be a black wire starts from the condensor just below the points runs back under frame up to hood stand and switch (the M terminal)

pfrederi 18,567 #6 Posted February 25, 2016 What is the spec #?? Guessing you have a breakerless system...do you have coil that is NOT round that is attached to the top front of the blower housing???
scotty 252 #7 Posted February 25, 2016 Yeah it is not round and is attached to the blower housing im not sure of the spec number at the moment.
pfrederi 18,567 #8 Posted February 25, 2016 (edited) OK you have a breakerless ignition system. Be very careful you can fry the trigger assembly and they are NLA. It is really an early transistorized ignition. The trigger is powered by a couple of coils on the stator. There should be 2 terminals on the trigger one A and one "I". The A terminal wire should come from behind the flywheel (the stator) This is not the charging system. The trigger is under the blower shroud and sits close to the flywheel. I am working from memory as i no longer have unit with a breakerless but the "I" terminal of the trigger should have two wires on it one goes to the magneto coil the other to the ignition switch which grounds it out when you turn it off. DO NOT apply battery voltage to that wire.. You can safely kill it by grounding the terminal on the bottom of the coil Edited February 25, 2016 by pfrederi
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,395 #9 Posted February 25, 2016 The 1969 and 1970 Electro models used breakerless ignition 1969 engine spec number 47147C We don't have the 1970 Electro manual but the 1970 Raider 12 and Charger 12 used the same engine. 1970 engine spec number 47371C Garry
