Retired Wrencher 5,792 #1 Posted February 25, 2016 As you can this is a very old post on plows. What I would like to know is what is a short frame and what is an early long/large frame like maybe 1054? and currant. And what do they fit on. I have a Commando 6/7 hp. And would like to put a 42" plow on it. My research tells me a 6-4111 would fit a Commando and on a 657 a 6-2111 would work I believe on the Commando. So my thoughts are in new models of plows what would fit the Commando. Or am I doing it all wrong and all 42" full frame plow would fit this. I all see that a short frame would fit a 6-7123? Any info would help I just do not to buy something and have it not fit. Thanks for any info Gary B.............
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,492 #2 Posted February 25, 2016 The 6-2111 fits a short frame tractor and the Commando 6. The rear axle hitch mounts in front of the axle housing. The 6-4111 was the first dozer to fit both the short and long frame tractors. The rear axle hitch mounts under the axle housing as they did to the last production. Does that answer your question? Retired Wrencher 5,792 #4 Posted February 26, 2016 Gwest sent me this info. I think this explains it well. As long as you get a frame that meets the 56" length with the correct rear axle hitch it should work. The 6-4111 was the first to have a 2nd set of holes for the rear bar so it would fit the long frames also as long as you get the correct rear axle hitch for it. The 42" blade will fit all the frames as far as I know and the later 48" models are the same - just 6" wider. They even made a 50" blade but you would be best with a 42" for a small tractor. Any blade assembly after the 6-4111 should fit. For a while they came in 2 packages. The blade in one and the A-frame in another. That way they could mix and match to fit the application be it short, long, large or wide frame tractors. This Attachment Interchage shows the blade used at the time (1st), usually the blade that replaced the original (2nd) and the blade available when the chart was made (last). What is missing are the blade models between the 2nd and last models but you can follow them if you go year to year. This applies to the tractors with a horizontal engine crankshaft. The vertical shaft tractor models use a different frame.
