Fuel Pump

Yea, things are tightened properly. I did use sealant on the fittings.  No rubber washers though. Why? I've used these fittings countless times with no issues. They aren't designed to use the washers. I wasn't in the mood to mess with it tonight. I'll tear into it again tomorrow and report back. Thanks.

I'm not sure this picture really tells you much but I'm starting to suspect an issue in the carb. I didn't do anything to it but I did have it off the motor for access to the breather gaskets. Leaks can be deceiving and where you see the fluid may not be the actual leak. I can say it's not the fuel lines of fittings. I just cleaned it up with brake cleaner and everything is nice and dry right now. I'll give it a while to just sit. If it stays dry I'll run it some and keep a close eye on it. What else am I missing?

Right after typing that last post I went out to check things. The TOP of the fuel pump was wet. Ah ha! Lookie at the bowl bolt. See the droplet there? I might be on to something here. Ya thunk? :)

HEY BOB!!! YOUR CARB"S LEAKING!!!! :):):)

I had the exact same thing happen to me. Had fuel  running down the motor cleaning off all the grease. Making my garage all stinky. I too thought the pump was leaking.  Look at the bowl gasket. Kohler didn't put all of those flutes in it at the factory. :)

P.S. Better change that fuel hose with the big crack in it!

Thanks Mike! I knew help would be here soon! :)

I snugged up on the bowl bolt and it seemed to stop. But since I had the stuff here I went ahead and did a quick rebuild on it. I did clip off the bad end on the fuel line. It looks pretty new so I'm not going to replace it. Took a little cruise and everything is staying bone dry. Now if it will just stay that way until I get it back to it's owner. :D
