Scored a NOS muffler for the D

Recommended Posts

It is a real wonder that us looking for parts ever find it on the evil pay site who's name is not to be mentioned. I have been looking for a muffler for my D160 for sometime and this has been listed for sometime, but the company handling the sale for the owner (a US company) listed  it in the UK (England). Any how through intense search efforts ( I knew it was out there) I finally found it, and not used, BRAND NEW NOS stock, 138.00 bucks shipped to my door, high, but the last one I will ever need.

Don't you  need 2 mufflers for a d?

Sweet! I always thought there's an aftermarket one out there that could be modified by drilling some holes and maybe wrapping a heat shield of sorts around it. But I never really looked. Keeping my eyes open. Tractor Supply has a few that look like they could work, but I think they're on the big side.

No, not on a Kohler powered Wheel Horse D 160, It's a one cylinder kohler k341, I believe most of those only take one muffler

It would be easier to have a muffler shop make one. The moron who owned my D 160 used a torch to cut away part of the iron grill to insert a replacement muffler of his choice. The muffler is a 8 inch long body, 4 1/2 inches in diameter, that's not a big problem. Finding the 1-1/8 inlet is the problem. Best bet is a cub tractor #1 muffler and cut the body down at one end and reweld, 25 bucks and labor.
