Mike_Eddleman 70 #1 Posted February 10, 2016 I'm going to putting my 73 D18 up for sale with the implements I have, is their a place I can look to figure what would be a fair price to ask for all of it?
rmaynard 16,079 #2 Posted February 10, 2016 As with anything that you want to sell, you must have a price in mind that you would be happy with. Start there and ask yourself if you would buy it from someone else for that price.
tractorhogg 612 #3 Posted February 10, 2016 The !973 18 Automatic (first model of the D series) is slightly different than later D180, the front grilles are different sizes along with many other small differences. I found out that the hard ($)way, and like other pre 1976 D series have the smaller bolts in the rear, that may or may not have a impact on sales. Having implements is the biggest plus for any tractor. BTW, you may already know this, but there were four different model numbers assigned to the 1973 18 Automatic due to small changes made during the year. I'm not sure if one is more collectible than the others
pfrederi 18,455 #4 Posted February 10, 2016 I don't think any D is going to be "Collectible" any time in the near future. It will most likely be a worker. Therefor her running condition is a big pricing issue. The engines are stout but if she is smoking or needs work parts are hard to come by and expensive. The hydros are a weak link and impact price. Pushing against an immovable object will she spin her rear wheels on coarse pavement with you on it when she is fully warmed up. Steering is another frequent problem area. I would say that around a $1000 for a basically sound tractor would be a reasonable price. Next would be what options she has,Rear PTO, 3 pt hitch would add value 150 for rear PTO maybe 200 for 3pt. The implements would have to be priced separately. Tillers, snow blowers are worth a lot in good condition. I would also assign a good price to a 60" 3pt mower. Frankly I do not see the 48" belly deck being hugely valuable. The tractor is to big somewhat hard to maneuver and eats to much gas to only cut 48"s.

Agree with all said, but for D's being collectible. I believe any pre 1980 tractor is collectible and think the 1969-1979 have the advantage of having modern hydraulics and other features that make them collectible and useful, maybe more so than a early foot dragging tractor. All that said individuals don't make tractors collectible, trends do, and my preference and the preference of others are merely a bias in beliefs that makes saving old equipment better, easier, and more successful.
