trowbri1 5 #1 Posted February 9, 2016 Noticed this problem yesterday while doing some work outside. The trctor would start right up but when I'd put it in gear it would stall and shut off. It's never done this before. Now this evening I went out and it fired right up, I turn on the headlight switch and it died and now it wont start. Acts like the battery is dead but the battery is fine, has been on the trickle charger all winter....who could this be??
953 nut 51,919 #2 Posted February 9, 2016 Did the lights actually illuminate? I am thinking you may have a short to ground on the wires to the lights and it is killing the ignition. As you also mentioned the direction selector killing it that would be a good place to start looking for a wire out of place. Let us know what you find. Horse46 513 #5 Posted February 14, 2016 You said first that when you put it in gear it cut out, is there a safety cut out switch on the clutch? It could be a dirty connection there, a bad earth can cause all sorts of gremlins to manifest .
