ericj 1,579 #1 Posted January 23, 2016 been real busy this week we had to bury my mother-in-law Tuesday and had all the funeral prep since last week, so when they started calling for this big storm i didn't have much time to get ready till Wednesday. had blowers, plows and cabs on but everything needed some fine tuning. the cab i bought for the 520 with 2 stage blower needed a windshield and a right side door, they have been ordered but not soon enough to get here yet. so i found some Plexiglas and cut it to fit for the windshield and fastened an old cab door i had for the left side, can't open it, but it keep the snow and wind out. had to put the chains on it last night after the snow started and had to make a rod up with a pair of small vise grips to turn the shoot. went out about 10 am and must of had close to 24" already by then. had to run the mtd walk behind blower just to get out to the shed. got the 520 out with the 2 stage on ad did 2 neighbors drives and mine. i was out about 3 hrs and must have had about 4" additional till i came back in. and let me tell you especially Jersey glen those cabs are GREAT, wish i had gotten one sooner. nobody else ventured out so i didn't get any action pictures but here are some pictures off the cabs last night before the sh*t hit the fan

WNYPCRepair 1,923 #4 Posted January 23, 2016 At least you get to try your equipment out, I'm in Buffalo with no snow! Off topic, but do you drive that Johnson Controls truck? The reason I ask is I was following one yesterday, and noticed it had some kind of wind turbine on top. Made me wonder what was inside that needed constant venting
ericj 1,579 #5 Posted January 23, 2016 yea that's my service van. that wind turbine thingy is suppose to vent the van in case of a refrigerant leak, mine doesn't have one on, that was put on newer vans. Johnson controls is all about safety and will go to just about any lengths to reach that end. i could go on and on about it but this is probably not the place to do so. eric j

ericj 1,579 #9 Posted January 24, 2016 was just out side to determine if i wanted to go out again or wait till morn, decided to wait, but when i opened the door in the garage it looked almost as bad as in the picture i posted above of the door, not quite as deep but we had probably another 8" since 1 pm when i came in. although it's hard to tell the way it's blowing around out there. eric j
Tankman 3,523 #10 Posted January 24, 2016 Eric know those hills in Red Lion. Early Friday evening was driving a tractor trailer over your way, saw a few fender benders. Sliding on hills. Looking at some Horse Play Work in Perkasie today. Yuk. Grandsons are glad to see the snow. They're nuts! Simplicity, 3 ft blower, ready. Work Horse and 520-8 both set with 48" blades 'n chains. Myself? Never set for this junque!
WH nut 553 #11 Posted January 24, 2016 Damn, and I haven't even taken the blower out this year.
Phil854 130 #12 Posted January 24, 2016 Yea here in north eastern Indiana the most we've had is about an inch at a one time not hardly worth the time to get any equipment out. Sure wish West Virginia had this kind of snow when we were out there right before Christmas to go skiing!!!!

Never set for this junque! i understand now why you hate the snow so bad being a truck driver. my dad drove truck all of my life retiring in 98 after which he became a snow bird heading to Florida for winters till mom got to sick to travel. now he is stuck here with the rest of us since mom passed the other year. he use to say he saw enough snow in his life time and that's why he went south. getting ready to head out for the big dig out will take some more pictures and post later eric j

Pullstart 66,827 #19 Posted January 25, 2016 Is all the snow just from one storm, or did you have any accumulation to begin with? That's an insane dumping if it's all from just one storm!
ericj 1,579 #20 Posted January 25, 2016 1 storm the ground was bare before the storm, somewhere between 30" and 36" largest southeastern pa storm on record. eric j

Looks like you will have to do your roof next before it warms up. yea i stayed home from work today got up on the roof and cleared a lot of it off hopefully enough, i took 2 truck loads off the side by the garage and the bedroom side i just shoveled off on the ground. i don't mined being up the roof normally but that was a little on the harry today. if you all know Charlie Culley of the WHCC board he told me his living room ceiling drywall started to bow and crack, so him and a couple of his neighbors and friends shoveled it off. eric j Edited January 26, 2016 by ericj
