Are their cats for our old engines?

After running my snowblower this week, I have had to leave my coveralls in the garage from the nasty exhaust.  I was wondering if there are small engine cat avail that can be installed.

Could be Jay, but I wouldn't want one on any of my horses.

For the price of a catalytic converter, i would think about adding some additional exhaust piping to route it such that it does not bother you......

I continue to ponder a rear exhaust system for mine.

Does the engine use oil?  Perhaps you might need some engine work.

You might be running too rich, that will bring tears to your eyes.

These older air-cooled engines do have high emissions, just make them run as well as possible.

You might be able to cobble up a cat and make it work, but where would you position that extremely hot device?

Is that snowblower a 2 stroke?  If so, not much you can do.

If it is a 4 stroke, you should not have that smell.  Your carb is probably running rich.  Sounds like it needs a tune to me.

It does sound like its too rich... by ALOT. These old motors may burn more fuel and "pollute" more---but yours sounds like it needs a tuneup / carb adjustment.

If your work clothes smell bad just think of how much fumes YOU sucked in....

If you did manage to rig up a small cat and it worked/got up to proper operating temp it quickly would be a glowing white hot "nuclear" furnace trying to burn all of the excess raw gas fumes coming through. It wouldn't last long.
