Old Auto 4-6-8 Cyl Tach Dwell Points Meter Question

I have a "Kar Check" Tach  and Dwell meter that was my dads.  I suspect it is around early 1970's vintage ( I remember using it on my 1966 Ford truck in about 1973/74 when I was in high school ) 

Is there a way I can use the tach on single cylinder engines such as Kohler K series.

Short answer... Probably.

I've used a newer auto type tach to check RPM's, works fine. I posted about it a long while back, I'll see if I can find it.
