That looks great , Not sure how long the plywood will last. Best of both worlds hydro. lift and manual shift.

Don't mind the wood belt guard I mocked that up as a guide for one made of sheet metal

I understand . Wonder why WH did not put the system on their tractor in later years.

Nope not yet now that the holidays  I will get on it I picked this unit up at a lawn and garden salvage yard and only traded some general parts and a couple mower decks  and a few other items  for the complete unit except for belt guard I think I got a real good deal I've been looking for one of these for a while but did not want to spend the money.

I seldom even see iron weights for sale, never seen a great deal on them and as I result I've none!  I'd be happy with Sears for now!

I see them at tractor and engine swap meets and engine shows. You will not find a real good deal on iron weights usually over a $100.00 bucks my grandpa give me these 20 years ago  had them on my Simplicity till I found some simplicity weights

:text-coolphotos:       If you want to keep the wood belt guard you could always color it using Red wood dye!     :ychain:

Did you happen to take any step by step photos of the rebuilding? If you did it would be great to do a tutorial to help others.

no  unfortunately not this was a project I wasn't going to do until spring and it just took off on me. I've never messed with hydraulics like this so it was a real learning process for me I used several links you guys on here sent me and really was not that hard so I regret not taking pics but am happy with the out come

I agree!  For the several years that I've been looking at yard sales, CraigsList and auctions I've not seen iron weights for less than $100.  I've bought some pretty good WHs for less than that!
