Running an electric fuel pump through the mechanical one.

Well I received my electric fuel pump. It would be much easier to run

this pump through the mechanical one that isn't working. Would the

fuel flow through the mechanical one or would it stop there? Thanks.

I think that would depend on the position of the valves in the pump when it quit. If it were mine I would remove the fuel pump and plate up the hole and run the new line to the carburetor. Running the electric pump through the mechanical pump may cause more problems than you have now.

Just leave the old pump there. Won't hurt anything. I left the old pump on my C-160. Been there for years and didn't hurt anything.

That's kinda what I meant to say.  Leave the pump on to keep badgers out and run the hose from the new pump to the carb directly.

Leave the pump just bypass it.

New fuel lines along with a new fuel filter.

You can make a cover plate and remove the pump. A 1/8" thick piece of Aluminum would be the easiest to work with.

Seen guys cut the lever off, take the diafram out, and pump fuel through the casing. Won't put fuel into the oil. even at 10psi. Then it looks normal on a tech   Gotta watch them pullers
