Butch 194 #1 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) Put in the new filter and nothing. Should I feel suction from the inlet side or isn't it noticeable. What does the fuel pump lever ride on? Could I have inserted it wrong? It's on a C175. Thanks! Edited December 29, 2015 by Butch
Butch 194 #2 Posted December 29, 2015 I ordered an electric fuel pump which I read about here on RS.
Sparky-(Admin) 23,120 #3 Posted December 29, 2015 I think the PSI is so low that you wont feel anything. Is it anew pump or a used pump? Mike......
squonk 43,714 #4 Posted December 29, 2015 What kind of filter did you get. There is one popular style filter I have used that when you install it, you have to get the air out of the thing so fuel will flow thru it. I don't use them anymore!
can whlvr 994 #5 Posted December 30, 2015 you can test the pump by putting the hose in some fuel and pumping the lever by hand, and yes you can get the lever on the wrong side of the cam,but I think electric is the way to go,if a tractor sits and the pump is getting old it can take a lot of cranking to get her to fire, hard on the starter,so the electric gives fuel to carb before you even crank her

The one that was on it and then a new one. I think they were Briggs and Stratton's. 1 hour ago, can whlvr said: you can test the pump by putting the hose in some fuel and pumping the lever by hand, and yes you can get the lever on the wrong side of the cam,but I think electric is the way to go,if a tractor sits and the pump is getting old it can take a lot of cranking to get her to fire, hard on the starter,so the electric gives fuel to carb before you even crank her So it rides on the cams like cars use to do. I wonder if I missed it. But I read about people using a certain brand of electric ones here on RS so I bought one. $55. At least it will be easier to install. Thanks for the info though!
