What Model K Series Engine Do I have

Recommended Posts

Rob R

I just rec'd two Kohler K series engines both old and in various states of disassemble. The one has a good engine tag and is a K141 and is in pretty bad shape... the other is much better but the tag is unreadable except for the Ser # which is C212678 and the Spec# which is 29175c.

I got this on assembled (used the box of parts that came with the engine(s), cleaned and gapped the points attached an old fuel tank and she started and ran very well.......   This one looks a bit bigger than the other so my question is can you tell what Model it is via the serial # ... I was wondering if it could possibly be a K161 or possibly a K181 it is pull (rope) start?  If it warms up a bit will post some pics.

If it looks the same as the k141 then it very well could be a K141,k161,k181 all used the same size block just different bore and stroke if i remeber right the sum K141's and K161 didn't have automatic compression release if you have a mic you can measure the bore size and that will let you know what you have

Turns out the shrouds on the engine were switched (as were some of the parts). One is a K141 and the other a K161.   As I said one is running perfectly will work on the other soon.....  Are there any demand for these engines and what is the $ value?
