I know the guys are workin on round hood year models. But sorry I try reading it but reading is not my forte! And I don't have much experience (yet ) in the round hoods. But I have the opportunity to buy this for 150$ with plow??

could we get a ballpark on what model it is?? The seating area looks newer than the 1960s model

Most definitely what Craig said. Not even a good rendition of a Frankenhorse. I'm thinking it started out life in about 1964 from looking at the front axle and spindles.

That appears to me to be a MUTT, perhaps it started life as a 604, 654 or 704. The 15" ? rear wheels and front wheels are not stock and the seating area is a misery. It would be a good parts tractor if you need parts, but if you attempted to restore it you would be spending a bundle on parts.

Looks like a lawn ranger based on the hood, hood stand, lift arm and 3 spoke steering wheel. Not sure what year the 3 spoke wheel was used. Seat pan could be original just modified to fit the larger tires.

I'm seeing that too.  That's a 1968 Lawn Ranger steering wheel.

Looks like they changed out the wheels and rear fender pan/seat.

 

Throw out the wheels/seat/ and rear fender pan and you have the beginning to this...

'68  Three Spoke.  

The Lawn Ranger id Tags are on the top of the left side of the hood stand up under the hood.  If you get down low and look up under the hood, you should see the plate riveted to the hood stand.

Should be a model number on it.

I think the hood was from a 64, then someone poked a hole in it for the gas cap.

That likely started out as a Lawn Ranger. I was looking at the lift arm and sector and it was different but the picture doesn't blow up well so I couldn't be sure what was going on. Then RedRanger posted his. Bingo, that's the setup.

Sorry Glenn-didn't mean to come across offensive.

This is why we discuss.  The lawn rangers carried that same hood through the late 60's.

I'd bet a 64 hood would be identical to the 68.

 

Looking at it, that's a rare steering wheel.  One year only and only on that model.

If it isn't cracked, it's worth $50 easy, or more.  I had to give $40 for my two spoke which isn't even that rare.

The $150 asking price may not be bad if it runs good and the plow is good.  

The 1968 Lawn Rangers had a special steering wheel, a special seat, and the best graphics of the 65-69 lawn rangers.

Jake Kuhn's is a fine example of the 1968.

perfect the steering wheels are a good match and though the tires and seat and pan are crap its somethin I probably would of bought new anyway. this gives me a good idea of where it could go....thanks everyone

I agree, even if it is a Horse of 4 or 5 different colors (so to speak) if it runs its worth $150...the plow that goes with it, is worth close to that.

The rear wheels look like something you'd see on a Russian modified snow car... just a bit smaller   Looks like a ton of fun if it runs good... just don't scratch the paint!
