oldredrider 2,553 #1 Posted December 6, 2015 I'm putting together a 10hp K241 with extra parts laying around the shop. The carb has been rebuilt with new parts and throttle shaft bushing so it is like new. Will a pulse/vacuum fuel pump be sufficient to feed this motor? I think the pump came off a 7hp Kohler and works as it should. I stiil need a few small parts for this motor but should be able to bench fire it in a couple of days but would like to know what you think beforehand. KC9KAS 4,744 #2 Posted December 6, 2015 I'm no expert, but I would think the pulse pump would work fine. I have a vacuum/pulse pump on a 14hp K series and it works fine.
JAinVA 4,638 #3 Posted December 6, 2015 Paul, Is the pump you are using similar to the type used on the Onans, and if it is where are you tapped into to get vacuum?Jim
oldredrider 2,553 #4 Posted December 6, 2015 Jim, the fuel pump is a stock Kohler vacuum/pulse type...old school style. It bolts right to the block where the mechanical arm style mounts. From the outside, it looks exactly like the mechanical type. No vacuum hook up needed; works off the crankcase vacuum. @KC9KAS that is exactly the kind of info I wanted to hear!
