wrightorchid 261 #1 Posted December 2, 2015 (edited) I had to replace a tire this past week. It went flat, and before I noticed, I damaged the sidewalls to much. The only one locally was a Hi-run at Tractor supply. I had to have something on short order. I'll order some next time. The main point is that I went to Discount Tire, and they mounted it for free. I was very surprised. I got it back working in a few hours time. One thing I did notice was that the rim had been paint. All of them are silver, but the rear had some come off under the wheel weight, and it was cream white. I wonder if this was a transition or old stock. It looked like a factory paint job. roadapples 6,983 #2 Posted December 2, 2015 I have some original 520 wheels, fronts and rears with silver paint peeling. White underneath.
953 nut 60,069 #3 Posted December 2, 2015 I was amazed to hear that the tires had been balanced, must be a high speed model! It could be a white primer or perhaps had a huge stash of wheels when they started the new line in '85 and went to silver. Unless you are the original owner and know the entire thirty year history it is hard to say if it is a rim that came on that tractor or a transplant.
AMC RULES 37,196 #4 Posted December 2, 2015 I remember, my '88 520's rims were the same way... almond/beige underneath the factory applied silver.

doc724 925 #7 Posted December 4, 2015 The white/beige must be a primer? I have it on my 96 and 98 machines but not (so far) on the 2002 xi
