953 nut 60,270 #2 Posted November 16, 2015 Best bet is to take the old ones to NAPA or a good industrial supply house and let them match them up for you. They probably don't have a listing for 50 + year old mower bearings but can measure them and find a suitable replacement.

slammer302 2,156 #5 Posted November 16, 2015 No problem watch out for those little seals they can be hard to put in without messing them up!
RedRanger 1,469 #6 Posted November 16, 2015 They look pretty delicate. I have three decks I'm going through. One gear drive actually had open grease chases and was taking grease. The other two were dried up and no grease was getting to the bearings. The bearings are pitted and seized. When I got to taking them apart, one had no oil seals, one had what I guess were once seals, and one had rubber o rings stuffed in there. I thought I could free up and lube the dried bearings, but that's not going to happen. No wonder they made so much noise. One question I have though. When I reassemble these decks, how do you set lash on the drive gears? Just guess or is there a special way to do it?I know the blades are clocked at 90 to each other, but should there be any play in the cross shaft and spindle gears? Or snug? Also-are those gears suppose to be packed with grease?
slammer302 2,156 #7 Posted November 16, 2015 I like a little up and down play I just go by feel I don't measure I'm sure the cross shaft should be snug and yes on the grease Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
