Fun in the wood pile?

Last spring I had the timber guys in to cut my pine trees - the beetles were dining on them so I decided I may as well get a few dollars out of them before the beetles. Made a few dollars and got rid of them too. I got tired of having to cut them myself and some close to my house were HUGE and I couldnt have handled them if the beetles got them. Down side was the timbering left a gigantic mess! Didnt try to clean up during summer with the heat/humidity we have here in N La, so when it started cooling down I had to get busy. Went and bought one of the orange tractors in order to get a FEL and back hoe - and that thing is a life saver!! Course I had to have a horse for some of the dirty work - this is a D-160 that doesnt look very pretty but that ole boy just "keeps on tickin" I haul the rubble loads down in the woods, and burn the larger stuff like in/on the FEL. I make a many load with that horse going back and forth. The little Kubota is a BX25D.

We have Emerald Ash Bores in Iowa destroying all the ash trees. I have a nice one in my front yard I treat twice a year and am hoping it will survive.  Thinking about retiring my 56 Ford 860 and getting an orange one like yours to replace it. Haven't told the wife yet...............

I know you are having fun with those two toys! The sub-compact backhoe/loader tractors are lifesavers. That purchase was a good investment. I do have one question though. Do you have a Mahindra dealer near where you live? If so did you look at Mahindra and compare their comparable setup to the Kubota?

Glad to see the :wh: D got some time in the sunshine. One of the farms I worked at in the '80s had a dozen of those orange rascals, very tough.

I really didnt do much cross checking for brands other than Kubota (I felt like they are sorta what a modern Wheel Horse would be if they were still around!) Also I was limited in the bank account so I started out looking at newer used and in my area within 4-500mi all that showed up were 2 of these in the BX size. I drove 600mi round trip for this 2013 or 14 with 112 hrs and got it for $15000. I'm pretty sure it was a rental...

Arn't the Mahindra's a "Made in China" tractor? If so they seem to have a pretty good dealer network. Nice thing about the 'botas is parts will be around for awhile. You did good on the price too Pacer a gently used one like that around here would have went for considerable more around here....without the hoe

The smaller sub compacts ( I think ) use Mitsubishi engines. My 4025 has the 41hp Mahindra 4 cylinder diesel mated to an EATON transmission and differential system. The only problem I've had with mine was the BOSCH fuel injection pump imploded on itself at 128 hours. It was covered under warranty so I'm a happy customer, and am one of those who would recommend Manindra to a friend. Nothing at all wrong with Kubota. I like all their products and have my eye on one (4wd with loader) that may come up for sale in the future.
