mrc 953 #1 Posted November 9, 2015 hello men, i'm working on a C100. i removed all the front wheelbearings. cleaned and repacked them. cleaned the inside of both wheels thoroughly too. upon reinstalling the wheelbearings the inner bearings required a slight tap with an appropriate size socket and mallet to seat. the outer bearings i could just place with my hand into the wheel. the wheel holes look good. not slopped out or disformed. is this a concern? any way to tighten the wheel hole? thank you. mike in mass. RedRanger 1,469 #2 Posted November 9, 2015 Were the bearings snug when you removed them? Maybe try rotating the inner and outers or to the other wheel?I'd think once installed and tractor weight applied shouldn't be a major issue as long as the inner bearings spin smoothly. rmaynard 16,299 #3 Posted November 9, 2015 Depending on the quality of the bearing, I have found that some of the shall I say "lesser expensive" imported bearings are not consistent in their sizing. If you have to tap the bearing in, that is more acceptable than having it loose. With the bearing out, I would tap around the hub with a small hammer until the bearing is a little more difficult to slide in.
Don1977 605 #4 Posted November 9, 2015 Yes it's a problem. They will only get looser. New bearings might fit tighter. Thread locker might work if you can get it in there with out getting it in the bearing.
