Sparky-(Admin) 23,249 #1 Posted November 1, 2015 How are Kohler Magnum carbs identified? On the K series there is a number in the throat such as #26 for a K241. On the 314-8 I bought this weekend it looks like a number 60 inside the throat....is that right? I may be looking for a new carb since the throttle shaft has massive amounts of play and I'm not sure how to ID a Magnum carb.Mike..........

Wheel-N-It 2,976 #3 Posted November 2, 2015 Mike, I don't know if this will help you or not but I think the M12 and M14 use the same carb. I had a M14 once that had throttle shaft play beyond belief and was able to quickly source one of the knock off carbs that is still working fine. If I can find that old carb I will see if I can get some numbeers for you but as of now sitting in my office I'm not sure what I did with the thing.
Sparky-(Admin) 23,249 #4 Posted November 2, 2015 Thanks Van....I actually have a lead on what I'm told is a good carb off a Magnum 14. If it wasn't so dark so early around here I would go look down the throat of my Magnum 10 for comparison purposes.Mike.........
Wheel-N-It 2,976 #5 Posted November 3, 2015 Mike, I could not find that carb last night, I may have left it at Jay's house when I picked up the knock off carb from him, however I think the 10hp carb may be one size smaller than the 12 and 14. FYI the 16hp carb is bigger and sized for the 16hp engine so if you could find one of those that could be a good way to go.
slammer302 2,156 #6 Posted November 3, 2015 I think a carb off a kt17 Kohler will work if you switch out the choke lever and throttle lever i've been wanting to try this myself Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Wheel-N-It 2,976 #7 Posted November 4, 2015 ok, update. Last night I finallu found the M14 carb and discovered it is larger than one I have from a K301. Also it appeares to be the same size as two of the carbs I have from K341's. The K341 carb and the M14 carb both have the letter "K" stamped on the throttle butterfly. Wishin4a416 2,191 #8 Posted November 4, 2015 You might want to just rebush the throttle shaft Mike. 2 Hillman # 58087-A bushings @ 50 cents each from an Ace or Service Star hardware and a rebuild kit have done wonders for 2 of mine. A 26 and a 30. The easiest starting tractors I have now. Easy fix and works well.
