DougC 2,643 #1 Posted October 31, 2015 Having never owned a Wheel Horse single stage snow blower I was wondering how much and what type of noise is normal for them to make when running and under no load?
wallfish 18,195 #2 Posted October 31, 2015 Kind of loud. Chain and gears always make noise. Maybe it has a little chatter from worn bearings and from the chute bouncing around. Less noise when loaded with snow

Forest Road 594 #7 Posted November 1, 2015 Unless they look like they're brand new. Change the chain and gears. Never heard of one failing at a time that's convenient to a major storm. Bit of a PIA but well worth doing. Chains and gear teeth all wear over time it's s good idea to change the chain every other year.
