prondzy 3,889 #1 Posted October 26, 2015 I was wondering about the 1056 is this a rare model for any production numbers reason? Or is it as common as a blade of grass? I haven't seen any in my neck of the woods and was just wondering.
CasualObserver 3,411 #2 Posted October 26, 2015 Not rare. A 1046 however... that's a different story!

elcamino/wheelhorse 9,362 #5 Posted October 26, 2015 Don't make fun of my youth. We all wanted a VW bus painted like that. I ended with a 54 Chevy 4 door in my senior year in high school. But I finally got the need for speed. A 1963 Chevy Impala S S ,375 horse.

WHX?? 51,745 #7 Posted October 26, 2015 Clue me in on the 1046 Jason ...rare? I looked at one awhile back that was touted as a 1045 0r '46 I don't remember, just that it was over priced for what it was. Didn't know there was a "special love for my 1067?!?!?Tom probably had a Harley Fonzy style.... got that little guy on a RJ yet Mike?...Never too young to start em out right!
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,362 #8 Posted October 26, 2015 Not being a smart A _ _ .What is so special about a 1046? Still learning about the different horses.
CasualObserver 3,411 #9 Posted October 26, 2015 @WHX5 Jim, 1045 and 1046 are not the same, but both are rarer tractors. 1045 was a special half-breed crossover model, with new square hood and old round fenders. Special documented run of 1100 units. The 1046 was an undocumented special run to use up the remaining spec of shallow oil pan spec engines. Unknown quantity produced, but they do show up every now and then. They are pretty hard to come across. There is no manual for the 1046, there was only a special variance part number sheet that had the numbers that were different from the 1056.
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,362 #10 Posted October 26, 2015 Thanks so much for information . Interesting tractor. The more I learn the better off I am. Don't want to stumble across a deal on a WH and not know about the model tractor and lose out on something that is special.
stevasaurus 23,279 #11 Posted October 26, 2015 I wonder if Rooster still has it...he has been inactive for a couple of years now.

elcamino/wheelhorse 9,362 #16 Posted October 26, 2015 Is the list on the Forum of the RARE tractors ?
WHX?? 51,745 #17 Posted October 27, 2015 Is the list on the Forum of the RARE tractors ? Good Question, if there isn't there should be one pinned so us WH dummies can study it in case we come along something in a bone yard or barn find...
CasualObserver 3,411 #18 Posted October 27, 2015 Nope. I think if one wants to know about what's rare and desirable, you have to learn to enjoy your hobby, pay your dues and learn about rare stuff the old fashioned way, through studying, reading and listening to what more knowledgeable people share, both on forums like this, and in personal conversations at shows/swaps. There's so much to be learned by getting out and talking about differences and nuances and personal experiences. So much to be learned first hand by seeing it on a tractor right in front of you. I don't think all of that stuff should be compiled in one simple place.... but I'm kind of an ass that way. I'm happy to share what I know, have learned and seen... I just don't think it belongs all in one list to be the be-all end-all of all things rare for Wheel Horse. If we just post a list of what's rare, those models become all about the money, and not about what they might mean to collectors and the evolution of the company. It makes it not about the tractors and having fun anymore. Just a humble opinion, and take it for what you paid for it. YMMV. (your mileage may vary.) Get more done, Have more fun!
stevasaurus 23,279 #19 Posted October 27, 2015 I like your thinking on the subject Jason. Going to the shows, meeting the people, taking pictures and enjoying the great conversation is the best way to learn about what is out there. When you think about it...they are all rare in Oklahoma.
