briankd 819 #1 Posted October 25, 2015 hello, Im new here looking for info to install brinly plow on my 857 tractor. I have the factory hitch on it where the touge slides into it and you pin it . would it be ok to modify plow or go and fabricate a sleeve hitch to attach it ? don't know witch would work best. will this 857 pull a 10 inch plow ok in 2nd gear? im going to install tractor lug tires on it. it now has original turf tires. also I probably will need wheel weights. how heavy weights should I need ? should I weight the front steers also? been watching plow days on you tube and seen guys with weights on steer wheels. C-101plowerpower 1,606 #2 Posted October 25, 2015 probably be better to pack some weight up front, i've got a 8" plow and my horse get a tad light in the front(especially when picking the plow back out of the ground) also i would fabrecoble a clevis hitch for the plow as it gives a few more settings
squonk 43,918 #3 Posted October 25, 2015 If you were to buy a WH clevis hitch and can get the slot hitch pin to come out of the trans, just replace the hitch. Also weigh up the wheels front and rear. This is the hitch on my 1267

CasualObserver 3,411 #6 Posted October 26, 2015 Don't modify anything.... all you need is the adapter. @wheelhorseman1000 is making repops of the Brinly HH-180 factory part which is out of production. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/53370-wheel-horse-brinly-slot-hitch/Here's the link to the original literature sheet I got with my NOS hitch which shows you the correct installation. (most people naturally use it upside down and don't know it)http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/files/file/983-hitch-rear-slot-to-sleeve-hitch-adapter-brinly-1966-hh-180/

squonk 43,918 #8 Posted October 27, 2015 (edited) The adapter is nice but, due to the length of it a 10" or 12" plow is quite the bear to get back out of the ground with a manual lift. I have one just like it but shortened it up. Made it a lot easier until I got the clevis hitch. The plow is also easier to control side to side movement being shorter.
