midpack 1,010 #1 Posted October 19, 2015 Picked up another C-175 last weekend. this one is an 8 speed. Found it on CL locally for a pretty good deal. Of course it's a series 1 with a hole in the dipstick side of the case. The guy said he had it running but oil was spraying out of it... go figurethe plan for now is to take the motor out of my Auto, I need a worker tractor (plow/snowblower), not a mower. but as push comes to shove.... I'm having a real hard time with the thought of taking apart a perfectly working machine....Brotha can you spare a KT17? (or at least the dipstick side case half, lol )
Sparky-(Admin) 23,157 #2 Posted October 19, 2015 Yep...two is a herd. The nice thing about your new machine is that any single cylinder "K" series Kohler will pretty much plop right in without any crazy mods to the wiring. I would find a new motor for the 8 speed and leave the automatic alone.Mike............
WHX?? 51,756 #3 Posted October 19, 2015 One is a herd in my book cause it ain't gonna be too long before he starts multiplying Can you patch up the hole with some JB weld but better question was how did the hole get there?
midpack 1,010 #4 Posted October 19, 2015 I haven't had a chance to look into what caused the hole, I'm guessing a rod the motor does turn over freely though, i figured I'd make a winter (warm cellar) project to see if I could do a patch job/rod/piston(?) if all else fails.there was a series 2 for sale locally last summer too... I thought about grabbing it and didn't, dammit!
muz123 1,192 #5 Posted October 19, 2015 Was that the one for 250 in CT? Anyway love your horses!
JackC 617 #6 Posted October 19, 2015 Take the head off and do some analysis.Use something like JB Weld if no major issues.I personally would not put a lot of money into a repair and would look for a used replacement.
AMC RULES 37,196 #7 Posted October 20, 2015 One is worth a least a dozen of them green things...so, I say yes...you've got quite the herd there.
midpack 1,010 #8 Posted October 20, 2015 Was that the one for 250 in CT? Anyway love your horses! yes, he wanted $250 for the pair. the 2nd one was a B-165. I would have loved to grab both of them, but....
DennisThornton 4,771 #9 Posted October 20, 2015 Of course 2 is a herd! But it doesn't yet mean that you have fully succumb to the WH addiction, but it does mean that most likely you will!Fight it if you must but start making room for more!
rjg854 12,201 #10 Posted October 21, 2015 I hope 2 does count as a herd, cause I happen to have 2 at this time. Of course if I can find the one model I'm really interest in finding, it will be 3!
SylvanLakeWH 28,415 #11 Posted October 30, 2015 Are they boy or girl?I understand they reproduce under cover...
cruisnblue48 856 #12 Posted October 31, 2015 I would count two as a herd. But then again, once they start jumping up on the back of your pickup or trailer without you knowing about it until you get home, (at least, that's the excuse the wife gets to hear) then you have to scramble to make more garage/shed space, just sayin'
Wheel-N-It 2,976 #13 Posted October 31, 2015 Yes, two is a herd. I agree with Mike. Leave the Auto as is and find a good engine for the eight speed. Why change motors twice when you only have to do it once? Send us a pic of the Auto so we know what you are working with there.
ronhatch 406 #14 Posted October 31, 2015 (edited) 2 horses would be a team. A lot of cows or cattle would a herd. Edited November 1, 2015 by ronhatch
