elcamino/wheelhorse 9,362 #1 Posted October 14, 2015 My 1980 B 82 decided not to start and it seems to be at the solenoid . I can not get to the solenoid because I don't have monkey fingers. Battery full changed , all wires clean and tight. How do you get the solenoid out of the tower?
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,362 #2 Posted October 20, 2015 Help , I still can not get the solenoid out , do I have to loose up the steering column and move it out of the way?
rmaynard 16,349 #3 Posted October 20, 2015 I've seen your post but I have no experience with a B-82. I don't think there are many of them in the sheds of our members since that model is not real popular. My recommendation is to see if a service manual is available either here or on the Toro site.Good luck!
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,512 #4 Posted October 20, 2015 Here is a 1978 service manual that covers the B-81 which is likely the samehttp://www.wheelhorseforum.com/files/file/1559-tractor-1978-b-c-d-series-auto-sm-wiring-810063r1pdf/Page 6-2 shows the battery between the engine and the tower. Can you not remove the battery to get at the solenoid?Remove the fuel tank and tank tray and go in from the top?Garry
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,362 #5 Posted October 21, 2015 Battery comes out easy , just every thing else can be a pain. I have unscrewed the solenoid from the tower , screws on outside but all the wiring appears to wrap around the steering column. Not enough room to move the solenoid. I am not sure if I can remove the gas tank tray . I have to take another look at it. The tractor may end up stored away until spring. Thanks for the down loads.
