Eaton 7 and 11

Recommended Posts

Aside from the differences I can see such as the Eaton 7 can't be used with hydraulic lift, doesn't have an oil filter and has a reservoir under the seat; what are the differences between the two? Are there significant differences in strength and durability?

Great web site. Thanks, Glenn

700s aren't nearly as heavy duty as the 1100 series. They are quite a bit smaller too. That's not to say they are weak, just not as sturdy as an 1100. Also, they don't share transaxle oil either. It's two completely different oil types (5-20W for the pump, and 30W for the transaxle) as well.

If you're looking to use one in place of an 1100 series, you'll need an adapter to make it fit the WH transaxle. It's highlighted below:

The 1100 series-equipped tractors won't have this. It came on the 300 series automatics without hydraulic lift, and the 516-H. It's Wheel Horse part number 110953.

I'm considering putting an Eaton 11 on a machine equiped with a 7. Since they use the same transaxle, what kept the fluids seperate on the Eaton 7 machines and not on the 11's?

Thanks again.

The charge pump on the 1100 series has a return line that is mounted externally. Any oil that is bypassed (say, when the lift valve is not in use), is directed back to the transaxle through the line.

In place of the hydraulic lines on the 700 series transaxle, you'll find a simple plug.

If you are getting the 1100 from a Wheel Horse, be sure to get the gear that is on the output shaft of the pump. The one from a 700 will NOT work on an 1100 in that transaxle. The 700 series gear has the same number of teeth and spline count, but has an "extension" machined into it to make up for the difference in size from an 1100.

Good luck, and post plenty of pics!
